Russian Helicopters to Train Chinese Pilots on Ka-32A11VS Helicopters
Russian Helicopters, part of State Corporation Rostec, and Jiangsu Baoli (China) signed contracts to deliver aviation equipment for Ka-32A11VS helicopters. The agreement was finalized at China Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition-2016 in Zhuhai.
The contract specifies the supply of ground support equipment, ground-based controls and maintenance tools for Ka-32A11VS helicopters. A separate contract signed by the two parties lays out the terms for training of Jiangsu Baoli pilots and technical staff. Chinese specialists will take a theoretical course at Russian Helicopters’ Kamov enterprise while practical training will be done in China, at the customer’s facilities. The contracts will be fulfilled in 2017.
"Ka-32A11VS helicopters have been operated in China for a number of years and they proved to be reliable and easy to maintain machines. The contracts signed today demonstrate that our Chinese partners prefer to buy parts and accessories directly from the manufacturer. We welcome this policy, as it contributes to combating the use of counterfeit parts in helicopter repairs and, in turn, increases the level of safety,” - said Russian Helicopters Deputy CEO for Aftersales Service Igor Chechikov.
In February 2016 Russian Helicopters and Jiangsu Baoli signed an agreement for delivery of four multirole Ka-32A11VS helicopters. Under that contract, two units were to be delivered in 2016 and two more in 2017. Earlier, Russian Helicopters had delivered 11 Ka-32s to various Chinese customers; 3 of them were shipped to China last year. Given the continued increase in fleet of Russian-made helicopters in China, Russian Helicopters is considering setting up its service centers in China and is working with several companies in that direction.
The Ka-32A11VS is designed for special search and rescue operations, building tall structures, transporting cargo, medevac and complex fire-fighting missions and patrolling. In China, these machines are used primarily for firefighting and rescue operations.
