First Aviation Services Inc.’s Rotary Wing Group Announced Major Commitment to Supporting Blackhawk Operators
First Aviation Services Inc.’s Rotary Wing Group (“RWG”) announced a major expansion of capability for repairs to the Main Rotor Head Assembly for the Blackhawk UH-60 and S-70, and a multi-million-dollar investment in a rotable pool of Blackhawk main and tail rotor blades.
Currently, First Aviation’s RWG has FAA-approved maintenance capability for the Blackhawk Rotary Hub Assembly, Damper Bracket Assembly and Main Rotor Head Bifilar Assembly, plus Army source approval for the overhaul of the Rotor Hub.
Throughout 2022, the company will add the following Blackhawk repair and overhaul capability: Main Extension Assembly, Hub Pressure Plate, Eye Rotating Bracket, Swashplate and Rotating Scissor Assembly, Tail Rotor Outboard Retention Plate, and Pilot/Co-Pilot Pedal Adjuster Lever Assembly. These new capabilities will first be added at the RWG’s Winston Salem, North Carolina facility.
First Aviation further announced that the RWG has made a major investment to create the largest pool of Blackhawk main and tail rotor blades available for exchange or outright sale to operators. First Aviation brings significant experience in exchange programs from its other operating units.
Paul Bolton, Chief Operating Officer of First Aviation Services Inc. said “The Blackhawk has become a significant engine of growth for our company. Our customers have been asking us to expand our capability in the Main Rotor Head Assembly for the Blackhawk. We are pleased to be able to add these additional capabilities to support our customers worldwide operations.” Bolton went on to say, “Despite industry leading turn times, Blackhawk operators have been asking us for exchanges and sales of rotor blades. We’re pleased to be able to initiate this program and with a pool on both the East and West Coast we feel we’re perfectly placed to support both domestic and foreign operators.”
