A Delta flight bound for Salt Lake City from Austin on Saturday returned to Austin shortly after takeoff after possibly striking a bird, according to Bryce Dubee, a spokesman for Austin-Bergstrom International Airport. There were approximately 135 passengers, including crew members, on board.
The plane, an Airbus A319, will be inspected by maintenance workers. The airport's on-staff wildlife biologist will then confirm whether the aircraft struck a bird and what kind of bird it is.
