Mar. 1—Iran is to encourage foreign airlines to fly over Iran's air space by providing incentive tariffs, said an official with the Iran Airports Company (IAC) Siyavash Amirmokarrami, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.
" Iran Airports Company has the authority to negotiate with primary customers by reducing tariffs to increase the amount of foreign airlines flying over Iran's airspace," said Amirmokarrami.
"A committee has been formed that include various sectors of AIC that cooperate together to attract passing flights by providing necessary incentives," he said.
"Reforming tariffs has currently been implemented and airline companies such as Qatar airways has welcomed it and has increased the number of its flights. There have also been negotiations with Turkish airline," he said.
"There have been ongoing negotiations with military organizations to reduce the number of banned flight zones, and have short parallel routes," he said.
"The number of flights through the region is currently 70 percent of the volume before the coronavirus outbreak, so we can't expect more than 30 percent of air traffic," he said.
