Malaysia Aviation Group Welcomes the Appointment of Two New Members of the Board
Malaysia Aviation Group welcomes the recent appointment of two new non-executive directors: Tunku Alizakri bin Raja Muhammad Alias and Zaiviji Ismail bin Abdullah to the MAG and Malaysia Airlines Berhad’s (MAB) Board of Directors.
Commenting on the new appointments, Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin, group chairman of MAG, said, “We are delighted with the appointment of Tunku Alizakri and Zaiviji to the board, who bring with them a wealth of experience and leadership values that will be vital as the group continues to execute strategies aligned with the Long-Term Business Plan 2.0 and realize its aspirations of becoming Asia’s Leading Travel and Aviation Services Group.

Tunku Alizakri is currently the chairman of Malaysia Venture Capital Management Berhad (MAVCAP) and a board member of Prudential BSN Takaful, Bumi Amanda Berhad, IHH Healthcare Berhad, and Sime Darby Plantation Sdn Bhd. He previously served as the chief executive officer of Employees Provident Fund of Malaysia (EPF) from 2018 to 2021, where he played a pivotal role in the digital business transformation of EPF to increase members’ digital experience and improve operational efficiency.
Tunku Alizakri holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Cornell University and a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from King’s College London. He is qualified as a Barrister (Lincoln’s Inn) in the courts of England and Wales. He completed the Executive Management Program from INSEAD and Circular Economy and Sustainability Studies Program from Cambridge Judge Business School.
Meanwhile, Zaiviji Ismail is an experienced professional with extensive local and international board and operation experiences in setting strategies and policies for companies. He is currently the chairman of Cement Industries of Malaysia Berhad (CIMA) and Uniquest Ventures Pte Ltd in India. Prior to this, he served Shell for over 22 years and retired in July 2011, where his last position was chairman of Shell Companies in Pakistan. Zaiviji holds an MBA from Cranfield University (Cranfield Institute of Technology), England and is a graduate member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD).
Other board members include Group CEO Captain Izham Ismail, Tan Sri Krishnan Tan, Tan Sri Shahril Ridza Ridzuan, David Lau Nai Pek, Cheryl Goh Ching Ling, Wong Shu Hsien, and Tan Yi Ling.
