July 2, 2019

Paradies Lagardère, a leading North American travel retailer and restaurateur, received international recognition for its Shinsei restaurant concept at the 2019 Airport Food & Beverage (FAB) Conference & Awards. Shinsei, which opened in Terminal D in July 2018, received a FAB Award for Regional Airport Casual Dining Restaurant of the Year for the Americas. Lagardère Travel Retail, Paradies Lagardère’s parent company, received the Airport Casual Dining of the Year honor for Teppan at Charles de Gaulle Airport. Paradies Lagardère’s Judith Hernandez, executive chef at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA), received a HighlyCommended recognition in the category of Airport Chef of the Year.

“Paradies Lagardère is honored to have been recognized by The Moodie Davitt Report and the industry for excellence in dining with our Shinsei restaurant,” said Regynald Washington, president, Paradies Lagardère Dining Division. “A testament to the dedication and commitment of our associates, this award, and the recognition Judith Hernandez received in the airport chef of the year category, speaks to their hard work in exceeding the expectations of our customers and business partners, and providing first-class dining experiences in airports throughout North America.”

Hosted by Dallas Fort Worth International (DFW) Airport June 26 through June 27, the first time the event has been held in the U.S., FAB, conceived, owned and organized by The Moodie Davitt Report, is the only event dedicated to the burgeoning airport food and beverage business. Since its launch in 2011, FAB has flourished and become the key global gathering for a constantly evolving sector, serving as a litmus test of its challenges, opportunities and quality aspirations.

FAB brings together senior executives from airports and food and beverage concessionaires worldwide, as well as varied industry partners, including design agencies, research companies, and technology providers. The conference showcases the latest F&B developments, innovations and trends at major airports, and features presentations by some of the world’s leading airport commercial directors, concessionaires, chefs, key-industry opinion leaders, and analysts.

Shinsei, a Dallas institution for more than 10 years, is the creation of two women entrepreneurs, Tracy Rathbun and Lynae Fearing. They had a vision of opening a restaurant that not only catered to the local neighborhood, but was completely different from any other concept in Dallas, where people could relax and enjoy delicious Asian cuisine. Paradies Lagardère recognized that this wildly-popular restaurant would also resonate with travelers at DFW.
