CAV Ice Protection will exhibit a Cessna Turbo T182T Skylane equipped with the patented TKS ice protection system in Palm Springs, Calif., at the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association Annual Aviation Summit Oct. 11-13.

The T182T Skylane is four-place aircraft with fixed landing gear, powered by a turbocharged and fuel-injected 235 hp Lycoming TIO-540-AK1A piston engine. It has a gross weight of 3,100 pounds for takeoff and 2,950 pounds for landing.

The airplane will be displayed at the Palm Springs Convention Center, and CAV Ice Protection will also have an exhibit inside the center at Booth 1200. The Skylane on display is courtesy of Field Morey, who owns Morey’s West Coast Adventures.

IFR Flight Training in Ice Conditions

The company offers great IFR flight training adventures to Alaska, the Rocky Mountains, Idaho back-country and California. Instrument flight students learn vital instrument flight techniques as they work toward their instrument rating in "real world" IMC weather conditions.

Morey’s West Coast Adventures uses either Cessna Turbo 182 Skylane or 2008 Cessna Skyhawk 172SP. The Turbo Skylane gives performance needed in mountainous areas and provides capability to climb above icing encounters during the winter months and, of course, is equipped with the TKS ice protection system.

The TKS ice protection system is available for the Cessna 182P, Q, R, S and T models, normally aspirated, turbocharged and with retractable landing gear. CAV has also received FIKI approval for the Bonanza G36, Cessna Caravan and Quest Kodiak.

CAV’s TKS system provides ice protection by exuding a measured amount of glycol-based ice protection fluid through precision laser-drilled microscopic holes in wing leading edges fashioned of titanium. There is also a dispersion mechanism for propellers.
