Ms. Nancy Jones, has been named by the Aviation Technician Education Council (ATEC) as the Ivan D. Livi Educator of the Year for 2014. She teaches at the Aviation Institute of Maintenance’s (AIM) Chesapeake campus.

CHESAPEAKE, VA (04/20/15) – Aviation Institute of Maintenance’s (AIM) Chesapeake campus is proud to announce that one of its Aircraft Maintenance Technician instructors, Ms. Nancy Jones, has been named by the Aviation Technician Education Council (ATEC) as the Ivan D. Livi Educator of the Year for 2014.  Ms. Jones recently received her official award at the annual ATEC conference, held in Orlando, Florida.

This award recognizes the outstanding achievement of an aviation maintenance technology instructor.  This achievement can be in the form of a single event or outstanding service over a long term. With 15 years of distinguished service under her belt, Ms. Jones certainly meets the criteria.

“This is such a wonderful achievement for Ms. Jones and for our campus.  Out of all of the Part-147 schools in the country, we can lay claim to having one of the best instructors in the industry.” says Jim Luck, the campus’s Executive Director.  “Nancy is extremely hard working, genuinely cares about her students’ progress and has a strong passion for what she does.  Her enthusiasm for aircraft maintenance is infectious and benefits not only the students she teaches, but also the campus as a whole.  She has touched so many lives in such a positive way that she regularly has graduates come back and ask to see her when they return to our campus for various events.  She is an inspiration to all of us here at the Aviation Institute of Maintenance and we are very proud to have Nancy Jones as one of our instructors”.

ATEC was founded in 1961 to further the standing of FAA approved schools with education and industry, and to promote mutually beneficial relations with all industry and government agencies. The Council’s mission is to advocate for aviation maintenance schools in the areas of curriculum improvement, technical and financial support, while promoting mutually beneficial relations with related government and industry groups. The Council has more than 80 aviation schools as members.

The Ivan D. Livi Educator of the Year Award memorializes the contributions of Ivan Livi (1920-2015), who was one of ATEC’s founding fathers and provided leadership to the organization for more than fifty years.
