Reston, Va. – Leidos Vice President Enrique Melendez will serve a three-year term on the World Business Partner (WBP)/Associate board of the Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA), which announced his election at the ACI-NA annual conference this week in Montreal. As a board member, Melendez will be responsible for representing the views of non-airport ACI-NA members for association initiatives and industry policy decisions.
“Having our World Business Partner and associate members vote to elect our board ensures we receive qualified, capable board members,” said Susan Prediger, WBP/Associate board chair and president at SP Consulting. “We look forward to Enrique using his expertise, insight and relationships for the benefit of ACI-NA and the advance of the aviation industry in the coming years.”
As vice president for ports business development at Leidos, Melendez leads the sales and business development for the company’s aviation infrastructure capabilities and ensures stakeholder collaboration on airport programs. Melendez is a recognized leader in the aviation industry and has worked globally at major world-class airports in master planning, design and implementation capacities with a focus on business technology solutions. In addition, he has worked closely with the Federal Aviation Administration, Transportation Security Administration and airlines around the world in partnership with the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Department of Defense.
“I was able to serve on this same board from 2001 to 2004, so I’m aware of the benefits it provides to ACI-NA members,” said Melendez. “The perspective provided by WBP and associate members is critical to the overall success of the association and the North American airport market. It’s a privilege and an honor to have been elected by my fellow members to represent their views on business issues within the airport industry.”
Melendez, a certified member of the Association of Airport Executives, holds two Master of Science degrees in electrical engineering and engineering management from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the same institution.
The Airports Council International – North America (ACI-NA) represents local, regional and state governing bodies that own and operate commercial airports in the United States and Canada. Approximately 380 aviation-related businesses are also members of ACI-NA, providing goods and services to airports.
