ALTA Announces New Executive Director
Miami, Florida (August 3, 2017) – ALTA’s (Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association) Executive Committee today announced the appointment of Luis Felipe de Oliveira as the association’s new Executive Director.
“De Oliveira’s vast leadership and industry expertise, coupled with his strong background in association leadership and government and stakeholder relations, will be instrumental in guiding ALTA in the association’s efforts to work collaboratively with our members, governments, regulatory authorities, and the communities we serve as we continue growing air transportation and the economic value and connectivity the industry provides in further developing the Latin America and Caribbean region,” said the President of ALTA’s Executive Committee Enrique Cueto.
An air transport industry veteran of more than 20 years, de Oliveira has extensive experience in commercial and technical aviation fuel, and airports and air traffic control with a primary focus in the Latin America and Caribbean region, as well as Africa and Europe. Most recently, de Oliveira spent 10 years with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) where he led the charge of fuel and airport campaigns, including negotiations with a full range of stakeholders, including governments, oil companies, fuel service providers, air traffic control providers and airports, for the Americas, Africa and the Middle East regions. In 2015, he joined World Fuel Services as the Vice President of Supply Development for Latin America and the Caribbean and led the company’s initiatives to improve World Fuel Service’s business in the region.
“I look forward to leading ALTA’s efforts in representing and leading the interests of the region’s airlines and improving ALTA’s relevance in the region, including benefits for our members and the overall industry, with a qualified team and joint initiatives with IATA and local BARs,” said newly appointed ALTA Executive Director Luis Felipe de Oliveira.
De Oliveira graduated from the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro with a degree in chemical engineering, earned a postgraduate degree in finance from the University of São Paulo, an MBA from Fundação Dom Cabral in São Paulo, and Post MBA from Kellogg University.
Born in Brazil, de Oliveira is fluent in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese.
De Oliveira will take over as ALTA’s Executive Director on October 1, 2017.
