Virtual Event Featuring Major General Mark Smith, National Commander of the Civil Air Patrol

Major General Mark Smith, the National Commander of the Civil Air Patrol, will address the Aero Club of Washington at its October virtual luncheon on Oct. 20 at 12:00pm.  

Major General Mark Smith is the Civil Air Patrol’s 24th National Commander (CAP) where he leads CAP’s more than 63,000 members across the U.S. in fulfilling the U.S. Air Force Auxiliary’s congressionally chartered missions of Emergency Services, Cadet Programs and Aerospace Education. As National Commander, he serves as a Major General (two-star), the highest-ranking CAP officer. He also serves as CAPl’s CEO and as an Advisor to the CAP Board of Governors, the organization’s governing body. In addition, he leads the CAP Command Council, whose members serve as his advisors, and the CAP Senior Advisory Group (CSAG).  

As an industry cornerstone, the Aero Club of Washington is dedicated to providing a forum for discussion of aviation and aerospace issues and achievements. Hosting hundreds of national and international aerospace leaders at its monthly luncheon meetings over the years, the Aero Club has fostered and promoted interest in the principles and development of aeronautics since 1909.
