A provider of services to privately owned aircraft at Waterbury-Oxford Airport, including jet charter flights, plans to add 100 jobs in an expansion that includes the construction of a new, $20 million complex, it was announced Thursday.
Clay Lacy Aviation said it will construct a 160,000-square-foot complex in two phases, the first phase with 40,000 square feet, with an estimated completion in 2022. The remaining space will be built in a future phase in the coming years, the company said.
Clay Lacy now employs 50 at the airport and the expansion — including a 30-year lease for 16 acres — will increase the services it provides to a wider range of private aircraft, according to the Connecticut Airport Authority, which oversees operations at the airport.
The private aircraft servicer established its operations at Waterbury-Oxford Airport in 2015 when it acquired Key Air, and moved into a 65,000-square-foot facility. The acquisition expanded Clay Lacy’s East Coast aircraft management, maintenance and business jet charter services.
Kevin A. Dillon, the CAA’s executive director, said the expansion will attract more business and create more jobs in Connecticut.
