Menzies Copenhagen Debuts Electric Towbarless Tug
Menzies Copenhagen is leading the way by being the first company at Copenhagen Airport (CPH) to have a fully electric towbarless (TBL) tug vehicle in use on the ramp.
TBL training began last week, and the tug has been in action ever since. Electric vehicles reduce emissions, and the towbarless function provides a reliable and efficient way of moving aircraft on the ramp. The tug supports the weight of the aircraft nose-wheel, balancing the aircraft and offering a more secure solution in comparison to a traditional towbar.
Jakob Bo Andersen, Copenhagen Station Manager, said, “This is the first of three electric TBLs we will receive this summer. We’re very excited to set the trend and lead the way in technological solutions and environmental issues by going electric with our equipment.”
