Harlan's new HLE (Harlan Low Profile Electric) towing tractor has been developed with an option of dropping in a battery and making it electric or dropping in a hybrid package and making it a hybrid towing tractor (the diesel engine charges the battery while vehicle is in use). These tractors have an integrated 80 Volt A/C motor, choice of 21.5 or 27 hp with planetary ends that lower the RPM through the axle to 1/3 of the motor RPM speed. Wet disc brakes in the axle enhance the braking ability and service life of the brakes. Tractors contain coil springs and shock suspension for superior driver comfort. The steer axle is hydrostatic and it has a 65 degree turning radius. Maximum current amps are 200 set at 451 amps with 21.5HP and 550 amps with 27 HP. Each tractor uses microprocessor logic which allows for more safety and adaptability, based on the operator's needs. The braking on the Harlan electric and hybrid towing tractors is regenerative, which saves energy and reduces the braking time and distance.
