Rhinestahl CTS Releases New and Improved FutureDriveNG+ Tool with Rolls Royce Qualification and Ease of Use Improvements
Rhinestahl CTS has launched FutureDriveNG+, a new and improved upgrade to its FutureDriveNG electronic turning tool. FutureDriveNG+ makes engine boroscope inspections easier and more precise than ever while continuing to automate the engine turning process so one technician can do the work of two.
FutureDriveNG+ is the first electronic turning tool to be OEM certified by Rolls Royce and recommended for the Trent family of engines. The FutureDrive series continues to be GE’s qualified tool of choice for electronic boroscope inspections for a large number of GE engines, including the third-generation GEnX.
A new family of adapters for FutureDriveNG+, developed closely with Rolls Royce, provides strong safety measures that protect engines as much as possible during inspection. In addition to torqueing limits and a mechanical safety pin, these adapters have a slip clutch feature that disengages FutureDriveNG+ and prevents the tool from turning the engine any further. Also, the slip clutch feature saves time by resetting after one rotation following a disengagement.
Other improvements with the FutureDriveNG+ include an upgraded motor to accommodate the torque of larger engines, updated electronics and memory, more user-friendly controls and screens, and greater precision and maneuverability in turning engines for inspections.
“Rhinestahl is laser focused on investing in tooling solutions that will improve customer performance and keep their fleets airborne,” said Art Alaiza, electronic products program manager. “We’re thrilled to release the upgraded FutureDriveNG+ tool so our customers can enjoy new levels of speed, efficiency and precision during their engine inspections.”
