Avelo Flight to Orlando Returns To Tweed Airport & CT After Pressurization Light Comes On

Jan. 27, 2023

Jan. 26—NEW HAVEN — An Avelo Airlines flight from Tweed New Haven Regional Airport to Orlando International Airport had to return to Tweed shortly after takeoff Thursday afternoon after a "cabin pressurization advisory light" came on shortly after takeoff, an Avelo spokesman said Thursday night.

"No emergency was declared and the aircraft landed without incident," said Avelo spokesman Jim Olson. The flight, Avelo Flight 317, "is rescheduled to depart HVN tomorrow at 11:50 a.m. We are in communication with our customers regarding the rescheduling."

"There was no pressurization issue experienced during flight," which "is why no emergency was declared," Olson said.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, "is being looked at by our maintenance team tonight and our customers will be back on their way tomorrow," he said.

Avelo Flight 317 took off from Tweed at 3:31 p.m. and landed back at Tweed at 4:36 p.m., according to FlightAware.com. It was supposed to have landed in Orlando (MCO) at 4:36 p.m.

Avelo celebrated its first year of service at Tweed in early November. It currently serves 14 destinations from Tweed, with six aircraft based in New Haven, which had no commercial air service when Avelo arrived.
