There’s a new Pokémon in the air, and it has wings.
Japan’s All Nippon Airways recently revealed its Pikachu Jet NH aircraft. The fun addition is a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner designed for ANA by The Pokémon Company.
The Pokémon Company launched their Pokémon Air Adventures, an initiative that helps airlines outfit their Pikachu Jets. ANA is the latest to join the colorful crew and is arguably the most attractive.
Among the six Pokémon Air Adventures aircraft, from Skymark Airlines, China Airlines, Scoot, T’way Air, and now ANA - the Star Alliance.
The plane took its inaugural flight on June 4 from Tokyo Haneda International Airport to Bangkok.
The Pikachu Jet is ANA’s 11th Pokémon-themed aircraft. The jet was painted and completed in Taipei.
Simple Flying covered the airline’s fun event, unveiling the new jet. Pikachu was even on hand for the event!
The livery of the Pikachu Jet NH features the Legendary Sky High Pokémon Rayquaza.
The colorful graphic comes to life, appearing to ‘fly’ across the entire body of the plane to create a unique and fun visual.
Accompanying the favored cartoon character are fellow companions Charizard, legendaries Latios and Latias, Rowlet, Vivillion, Pikachu, and other air-type Pokémon.
Once aboard the plane, the animated theme continued. Special Pokémon boarding music was played at the gate and passengers on the commemorative flight were given gifts.
The cabin crew also took part in the festivities, dressing up in Pokémon themed uniforms.
Seido Terasawa, General Manager of ANA in Thailand, spoke about the fun partnership at the launch.
“We are both proud and honored to operate the debut flight of the Pikachu Jet NH from Tokyo to Bangkok. This partnership underscores ANA’s continued commitment to the Thai market, and we will continue to offer passengers a unique experience of the highest quality. We look forward to welcoming passengers on their flight on a one-of-a-kind journey.”
The outlet states that all six special liveries have a theme, but designers consider the ANA edition the most attractive. The Pikachu Jet NH signifies shining rays of hope and countless opportunities within an interconnected world full of fun and wonder.
Pikachu and his friends will fly the skies with ANA until October 28. Insider reported the new jet will connect Tokyo’s Haneda Airport to Bangkok, Singapore, Jakarta, Manila, Ho Chi Minh, Delhi, Sydney, Vancouver, and Honolulu.
