LOS ANGELES – October 30, 2013: Qantas today announced details of its new and expanded Business Lounge at Los Angeles’ Tom Bradley International Airport due for completion in the second half of 2014.
The new Los Angeles Business Lounge will be jointly owned by Qantas, Cathay Pacific and British Airways, with Qantas being the managing airline.
The lounge will be more than double the size of the current lounge, offering almost 600 seats and will include a wine bar, open kitchen, a communal fire place and central glass atrium.
When completed, customers will be offered fresh, regional dishes, passed tray service and a buffet of self-service offerings. In addition to an extensive range of international wines, the wine bar will serve signature cocktails, bar snacks and full barista service.
Qantas International CEO Simon Hickey said the new lounge will offer a new standard of comfort and elegance for customers traveling with Qantas from Los Angeles.
“This multi-million dollar investment in our Business Lounge delivers on our promise to continually set the benchmark for premium travel and maintain our position as the airline of choice for Americans traveling to Australia,” said Mr. Hickey.
“We have invested heavily in the U.S. in recent years offering double daily services from Los Angeles to Australia with our flagship A380 aircraft and new luxurious interiors on our Boeing 747s from Dallas and New York.”
The Los Angeles Business Lounge will open in phases from April 2014, with the final phase due for completion in the second half of 2014.
The Los Angeles Business Lounge will also offer:
- Menus inspired by a mix of local and Asian flavors.
- A new dining area with views to the kitchen offering fresh, regional dishes.
- A wine bar offering signature cocktails and bar snacks, and a barista service.
- A circular internal fireplace to relax and socialize around.
- Seating surrounding a central glass atrium.
The extensive food offering available in the lounge is designed to complement the Qantas International Sleep Service, which enables customers to dine in the lounge so they can maximize their sleep onboard.
The new sleep service also provides Business customers with a mattress and duvet for the fully flat Skybed and a T2 wellbeing tea to enhance sleep comfort.
A new, world class Qantas First Lounge will open in Los Angeles in the second half of 2014.
