ST Aerospace has sealed an eight-year contract worth approximately US$25m (approximately S$35m) with one of Scandinavia’s largest airlines Scandinavian Airlines (SAS).

Singapore, 4 November 2015 – Singapore Technologies Aerospace Ltd (ST Aerospace) has sealed an eight-year contract worth approximately US$25m (approximately S$35m) with one of Scandinavia’s largest airlines Scandinavian Airlines (SAS).

Under this agreement, ST Aerospace will provide a comprehensive range of landing gear repair, overhaul and exchange services for SAS’ fleet of Boeing 737-600/700/800 and Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft.

“ST Aerospace has been supporting the landing gears for our Boeing 737NG fleet for a number of years,” said Mr Knut Dissen, Nominated Post Holder, Continuing Airworthiness of SAS. “Based on our previous experience of their quality work and high service levels, and their close proximity to our main bases at Copenhagen and Stockholm airports, SAS is happy to extend our business relationship with ST Aerospace.”

This contract extends an existing agreement covering landing gears maintenance for SAS’ fleet of Boeing 737NG aircraft, which ST Aerospace has been supporting since 2005. This extended agreement reinforces the long-standing partnership between ST Aerospace and SAS, which started a decade ago when ST Aerospace first provided landing gear repair and overhaul services to the SAS’ fleet of MD-80 aircraft which was later replaced by Boeing 737NG. Over the years, ST Aerospace also provided engine maintenance support for SAS’ CFM56 family of engines, and component support for SAS’ fleet of Boeing 737CG, 737NG, MD-80, Airbus A320, A330, A340 and Bombardier Q400.

"We are honoured to be selected once again by SAS to support their landing gears,” said Mr Goh Poh Loh, Executive Vice President, Component Total Support of ST Aerospace. “We value the trust and confidence built upon this partnership over the past ten years, and we will continue to deliver long-term value for SAS as we support its growing operations.”

ST Aerospace has serviced over 5,000 landing gears for more than 80 aircraft operators globally. As a component total support provider, it has combined capabilities for more than 25,000 mechanical and avionics component types. Recognised as the ‘2015 ATE&M Best Component MRO Provider’, ST Aerospace continues to enhance its component maintenance capabilities, which now cover components and nacelle systems of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. The MRO provider is also developing its Singapore base as the centre of excellence for landing gear repair and overhaul, as evidenced by its most recent decision to acquire the remaining shareholding of Singapore Precision Repair and Overhaul, which specialises in the repair and overhaul of aircraft landing gear systems and components.

SAS is one of Scandinavia’s largest airlines which currently operates a fleet of 135 aircraft across 90 destinations. Its aircraft fleet comprises Airbus A320 family, A330, A340, Boeing 737NG and Bombardier CRJ900. In 2013/2014 alone, 28.4m passengers travelled with SAS to destinations in Europe, the US and Asia.
