TUCSON, AZ – Universal Avionics UniLink Communications Management Unit (CMU) has been selected for Trans States Airlines Embraer ERJ 145 fleet to provide datalink and ACARS capabilities. The CMU includes a custom Customer Database allowing the regional airline to choose the Flight Management System (FMS) Control Display Unit (CDU) page layouts and customize the content of downlinked and uplinked messages, thereby expediting dispatch while improving the monitoring of operational performance.

With the equipment now delivered, installations are currently underway at Trans States’ Lambert – St. Louis International Airport (STL) facility. A total of 15 aircraft are receiving the installation, most of them operating in Trans States’ New York markets.

“UniLink Database customization is a unique option that we offer,” said Robert Kline, Universal Avionics Airline Sales Manager (USA & Latin America). “For the ERJ 145 installations, UniLink’ s customer database driven user-interface and message set was customized to match Trans States’ operational requirements,” he added.

“Customizing our aircrafts’ UniLink Database is helpful in streamlining our operations,” said Keith Stamper, Trans States Director of Flight Operations. “It allows us to tailor the CDU page layouts so we can choose what the pages look like and eliminate FMS key presses,” he added. “In addition, we are provided with weight and balance uplink functions provided through the services of AeroData, Inc.”

The UniLink upgrade complements the fleet’s existing flight deck which includes dual Universal Avionics FMSs, installed as delivered from Embraer.
