Spirit Airlines to Add Service to San Juan from PHL

Jan. 17, 2019

Low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines will add daily, year-round non-stop service from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) to San Juan (SJU) starting May 23, 2019.

“San Juan is a popular destination for vacationers as well as locals who have family and friends in Puerto Rico,” said Airport CEO Chellie Cameron. “This is great news for travelers in the region who want to visit this beautiful island. We are pleased that Spirit has added San Juan to their non-stop service from Philadelphia, and we look forward to more flights to more cities.”

The San Juan service is scheduled to start three weeks after Spirit is set to launch seasonal flights to New Orleans. In December, Spirit added seasonal non-stop service from Philadelphia to Fort Myers and Tampa.

The Florida-based airline, which frequently touts its “Ultra-Low Fares,” began service out of Philadelphia in 2013. This new route will increase Spirit’s annual destinations from PHL to 12.

Currently, American Airlines and Frontier Airlines offer non-stop service to San Juan.
