Proudly Supported by Antavia AMETEK MRO, Airbus Beluga XL is Now Fully in Service
CAMPSAS, FRANCE (MARCH 9, 2021) – Antavia AMETEK MRO, an aircraft component maintenance specialist with more than 30 years of experience, received its first wheels and brakes of the Airbus family new cargo plane as the next-generation Beluga XL begins regular operations.
Selected by Airbus as the provider of wheel and brake maintenance for the Airbus Beluga XL, Antavia has won a long-term contract.
The contract will be carried out in collaboration with Airbus Transport International (ATI), an Airbus subsidiary, for the delivery of their Beluga XL wheels and brakes MRO services at Antavia’s maintenance facility in Campsas.
This contract marks an extension of Antavia’s relationship with ATI, which has seen many years of cooperation and sharing. By using Antavia’s maintenance offer, ATI will have access to tailor-made MRO and logistics solutions services.
Under the terms of this agreement, Antavia’s wheels and brakes support covers ultimately six of the highly modified twin-engine A330 aircraft.
Operating from 11 destinations in Europe, Belugas XL are providing Airbus with additional transport capacity as these oversize cargo airlifters gradually replace the five Beluga ST predecessors.
“This contract speaks to the confidence that Airbus has placed in Antavia and our ability to offer the Beluga XL fleet advanced and reliable maintenance solutions. As a critical operator, ATI carries thousands of aircrafts pieces each year. By partnering with Antavia, they can focus fast transportation with the knowledge that their MRO needs are taken care of,” said Laurent Bouissou, Antavia’s Managing Director, DVP.
“We have provided wheel and brake support to ATI since 1992, when we serviced the Super Guppy,” Bouissou added. “This contract extension means we will continue to provide support for the XL’s fleet.”
To date, more than 40,000 wheels and 3,200 brakes have been released from Antavia’s workshops.
