2023 Airport Business Top 40 Under 40: Anita L. Cobb, MBA

Dec. 19, 2023
Market Leader – Aviation Equity Strategies, Mead & Hunt, Inc.

Anita L. Cobb, MBA, is a Market Leader in Aviation Equity Strategies for Mead & Hunt, Inc.

“Being a leader in aviation equity strategies means that you unapologetically fight for universal standards that make it easy for all to participate comfortably,” Cobb said. “Our industry was admittedly created with an ableist and majority-biased mentality and now we have to find a way to speak for those that have been marginalized. Being a leader in this field means having an open mind, an even more open heart, and the ability to practice discernment in difficult situations. Leading in this field means that you are ready to collaborate in any network and environment because equity is not a competition.”

Cobb has been a driving force in developing the company’s employee resource initiatives and firm equity strategies. She also is responsible for equity-based programming and training.

“Equity-based training is very complex because equity means different things to different people,” she said. “With intersectional identities, we are all individually diverse so that makes a challenge when trying to come up with universal solutions. In addition, the fluidity of our own personal circumstances means that we can become part of an unfamiliar demographic in an instant (i.e. an accident suddenly changing your ability). Training for equity is a constant and ever-changing exercise that forces people to continuously learn about the latest best practices for how to assist, serve and protect people.”

Cobb is known for bringing focused, fun energy into every interaction. “I’ve been known to say, ‘People are my jam’ and I mean that from the bottom of my heart,” she said.

She volunteers with the STEM STAR Alliance, American Society of Civil Engineers Dream Big, Elevated Denver, and other nonprofits.
