Russell Fortmeyer joins Woods Bagot as Global Sustainability Leader
Russell Fortmeyer has joined Woods Bagot's as the firm's global sustainability leader, deepening the firm's dedication to climate action through design.
The Global Studio is transforming its existing climate commitments with a focus on both the practice of architecture and consulting on new strategies to deliver various practical initiatives towards de-carbonization and the growing green economy. With over a decade of environmentally conscious work in our portfolio and the recent creation of a Global Impact Group, Woods Bagot's commitment to research- and innovation-driven output is bolstered by Fortmeyer's extensive sustainability expertise. Already internationally recognized for his ahead-of-the-curve approach to ecological and environmental solutions expressed through design, consulting, and writing, Fortmeyer's acumen makes this new partnership a logical next step for our expression of People Architecture.
Fortmeyer trained in both engineering and architecture, and his career has focused on progressing sustainability in the built environment to address climate change and the natural environment, social equity and human health, and the application of green technologies to architecture. His professional interests are broad, including sustainable buildings and certification, climate action and resilience planning, decarbonization and energy strategy, urban microclimates and human comfort, and materials and circular economy research. These topics also inform his long-time commitment as an educator within architecture schools.
Based in Los Angeles, Russell will bring his expertise to Woods Bagot's 17 studios.
